Technical

Larger Sensor (possibily 2/3", APS-C or full frame)

This is a goal for the far future. The next generation Elphel camera is already in development, the planned changes for this so called "Elphel 373" cover a total overhaul of the FPGA and CPU part (see blog post) to enable usage of faster, bigger and higher resolution sensors. Once this is completed (estimated 2011) new sensor options will be considered. A list of possible sensors is being assembled here: http://wiki.elphel.com/index.php?title=CCD_table

Audio Recording

Current hardware already allows usage of any USB audio device with linux support. This USB interface can directly be connected to the camera. There is a wide range of possible interfaces ranging from simple 3.5mm jack line-in/out to multi-channel XLR solutions with preamps/limiters. Currently the software to record audio and video synchronously is being completed so this is a goal for the near future.

Camera Internal Dirac Pro Encoding

Dirac Pro is an open souce codec targeted at professional video production. We are currently evaluating possibilities to encode the video inside the camera live as dirac pro video.

Once the basic compontents are completed we will create a kind of webshop.
